Osvaldo Santana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Porto having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Grêmio's Nilton Perez got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 15th minute Marcelo Brasil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Seco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcelo Brasil was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 16th minute. Caxinha F. C.'s manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 16th minute, Caxinha F. C.'s Marcelo Brasil ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Roger Seco. Roger Seco yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Marcelo Brasil took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Roger Seco to make any attempt to save it. In the 24th minute, Luisão Mello fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Roger Seco, passed just outside the right post. Caxinha F. C.'s Delfim Porto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Osvaldinho Marquez in the 32nd minute of play. After 36 minutes of play, Caxinha F. C.'s Marcelo Brasil made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Roger Seco was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 39th minute, Luisão Mello reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Roger Seco. The goal made the score 6-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ronaldo Ramos was the one to do the kick off. Osvaldo Santana's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Delfim Porto firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 53 played minutes Caxinha F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Luisão Luz. Delfim Porto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldo Ramos in the 59th minute of the match. Delfim Porto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Ramos in the 62nd minute of play. In the 65th match minute, Caxinha F. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelo Brasil to maneuver through the defense. If Osvaldinho Marquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Ronaldo Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Brasil in the 76th minute of play forced Grêmio's goalkeeper Roger Seco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cauan Queirós charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cauan Queirós the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 79 played minutes Caxinha F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Cauan Queirós. Delfim Porto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Osvaldinho Marquez in the 84th minute. Osvaldinho Marquez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Delfim Porto made a huge save. When Norberto Nóbrega fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caxinha F. C.'s protests and gave Norberto Nóbrega a yellow card for diving instead. Norberto Nóbrega hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. The supporters of Grêmio booed when Caxinha F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelo Brasil didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th minute, Caxinha F. C.'s Eriberto Prestes seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Eriberto Prestes the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Caxinha F. C. protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Eriberto Prestes had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 94th minute, one of Caxinha F. C.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Caxinha F. C.. In the 96th minute, Rui Varela ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Delfim Porto was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-1. Grêmio's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
