The referee ignored Grêmio's protests and gave Alexsandro de Queiroz a yellow card for diving instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cauã Marques was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cauã Marques in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roger Seco saved Grêmio from getting behind. Roger Seco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cauã Marques in the 64th minute. In the 64th match minute, Mixto Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dick Granström to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio's zone, Edinho Arantes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roger Seco came out of the goal and Edinho Arantes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 76th minute, Mixto Esporte Clube's Cauã Marques ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Roger Seco. Roger Seco yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. When Ezequiel Capixaba fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grêmio's protests and gave Ezequiel Capixaba a yellow card for diving instead. With a little luck, Grêmio's Roger Seco got control of the ball when Dedé Viana tried to sneak it across the goal line. Osvaldo Santana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Roger Seco was a little too slow when Cauã Marques got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 91st minute. The score was now 0-8.
