With a couple of smart ball manuevers Basarab Panduru in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mihai Domuță saved POLI TIMISOARA from getting behind. In the 3rdth minute of the game Basarab Panduru who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but POLI TIMISOARA's Mihai Domuță was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marcelito Pajazo hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Jarbas Prestes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mihai Domuță showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valer Perișoară in the 11th minute of the match. Horia Chioreanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mihai Domuță having to interfere. Basarab Panduru struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Mihai Domuță didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt. 15 minutes into the match, FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's goal looked a bit too open when Jardel Meireles came free, but Pompiliu Barna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 16 minutes, Pompiliu Barna successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With his leg Pompiliu Barna managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when POLI TIMISOARA's Jardel Meireles fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's zone, Jardel Meireles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pompiliu Barna came out of the goal and Jardel Meireles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jardel Meireles's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 25thth minute, Pompiliu Barna skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 29th match minute, POLI TIMISOARA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dumitru Perișoară to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Basarab Panduru's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mihai Domuță was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. After 34 played minutes FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt got a freekick which was hit by Kobe Bryant. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basarab Panduru in the 37th minute of play forced POLI TIMISOARA's goalkeeper Mihai Domuță to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Horia Chioreanu made in the 39th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by POLI TIMISOARA's Adrian Mihăescu. If Jardel Meireles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the game, Leonard Floricel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave POLI TIMISOARA the free kick. The supporters of POLI TIMISOARA booed when FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonard Floricel didn't get a good kick on the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Basarab Panduru to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, POLI TIMISOARA's Jardel Meireles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pompiliu Barna narrowly saved just below the crossbar. POLI TIMISOARA's Mihai Domuță played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kobe Bryant in the 59th minute of play. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind POLI TIMISOARA's goalkeeper Mihai Domuță, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 65th minute of the match FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt got a corner. POLI TIMISOARA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Costin Malcoci ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Costin Malcoci almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but POLI TIMISOARA's Mihai Domuță did a great save. Mihai Domuță took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valer Perișoară, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 69thth minute of the game Jardel Meireles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's Pompiliu Barna was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jardel Meireles couldn't finish the play. Basarab Birișu's late challenge caught a POLI TIMISOARA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Basarab Birișu helped the player get up and apologised. After 84 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt! Pompiliu Barna had in the 86thth minute some difficulties stopping Nicu Nichitelea's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 87th minute of the match Dumitru Perișoară sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pompiliu Barna skillfully saved the ball. In the 89th minute, Nicu Nichitelea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adrian Nasta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Mihai Domuță made a huge save. Pompiliu Barna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jarbas Prestes in the 92nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jardel Meireles in the 95th minute of play forced FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's goalkeeper Pompiliu Barna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mihai Domuță made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valer Perișoară in the 96th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adrian Nasta got free with Mihai Domuță in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
