Ümit Karan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Laurence Van Den Abeele tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Romeu Moreira got a throw-in 5 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Armand Steenberghs. In the 11th minute Guido Vissenaeken shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laurence Van Den Abeele saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Guido Vissenaeken put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Laurence Van Den Abeele. After 20 played minutes Apricis Bruxella got a freekick which was hit by Romeu Moreira. Brugge United's Laurențiu Roşculeţ quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Romeu Moreira, made in the 26th minute of the game. Apricis Bruxella's Laurence Van Den Abeele played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guido Vissenaeken in the 29th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Apricis Bruxella's Vítor Baia threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Wolf De Hond, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a rather tough play, Brugge United's Laurențiu Roşculeţ got a free kick in the 35th minute. After 36 played minutes, Apricis Bruxella's Laurens Vercammen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vítor Baia came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Apricis Bruxella reached it. After 38 minutes of play, Brugge United's Guido Vissenaeken made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Laurence Van Den Abeele was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, Brugge United's Vítor Baia got control of the ball when Armand Steenberghs tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Laurențiu Roşculeţ hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. Vítor Baia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wolf De Hond, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brugge United's Waud Huijbrechts was substituted for Jaspar Van Den Broeck. Ümit Karan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Laurence Van Den Abeele came out and tried to block the shot, but Ümit Karan slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 59th minute. When Brugge United's Arnauld Van Impe in the 68th minute got a chance for a shot 68th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Apricis Bruxella's goalie prevented a goal. In the 72nd minute Wolf De Hond shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vítor Baia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Brugge United's Percy da Fonseca got a free kick in the 74th minute. Laurence Van Den Abeele made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnauld Van Impe in the 77th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Arnauld Van Impe could shoot a difficult shot in the 79th minute, which Laurence Van Den Abeele however easily saved by the left post. After some careless play in the Brugge United defense, Wolf De Hond kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vítor Baia. The Brugge United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vítor Baia should have stopped the shot. Vítor Baia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armand Steenberghs in the 87th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wolf De Hond in the 93rd minute of play forced Brugge United's goalkeeper Vítor Baia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Wolf De Hond managed to get in a good position for a shot. Apricis Bruxella's supporters rose to their feet, but Wolf De Hond was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vítor Baia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
