After a defensive mix-up in UFC STEAUA's zone, Osvaldo Fontana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Massa came out of the goal and Osvaldo Fontana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nae Hârțan scored 1-0 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of João Massa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 10 minutes into the game, Osvaldo Fontana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. João Massa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Osvaldo Fontana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Rafet Faydalı fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored UFC STEAUA's protests and gave Rafet Faydalı a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA booed when UFC STEAUA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafet Faydalı didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Nae Hârțan kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving João Massa. That made the score 3-0 in the 20 minute of play. Rafet Faydalı hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Osvaldo Fontana's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but João Massa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. 5-0 became the score in the 31st minute when Nae Hârțan elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Nae Hârțan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. João Massa came out and tried to block the shot, but Nae Hârțan slotted it home off the left post making it 6-0 in the 34th minute. If Hermengildo Jobo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Demetrio Di Franco struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Cornel Filimon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for UFC STEAUA. If Osvaldo Fontana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

8-0 became the score in the 63rd minute when Osvaldo Fontana elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Nae Hârțan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Osvaldo Fontana came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Osvaldo Fontana couldn't finish the play. João Massa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nae Hârțan in the 74th minute of the match. João Massa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osvaldo Fontana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner led CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA's Osvaldo Fontana to fire away a dangerous shot which João Massa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Osvaldo Fontana took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised João Massa. João Massa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 9-0. João Massa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osvaldo Fontana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA's Cornel Filimon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA from getting a goal against them. When Osvaldo Fontana came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Osvaldo Fontana couldn't finish the play. In the 91st minute, Nae Hârțan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 10-0. When the match clock showed 95 minutes, the score became 11-0 when Nae Hârțan sped through UFC STEAUA's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of João Massa. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA fully deserved thier win.
