Klavs Brunsdorf kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. Hannibal Felsø hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, Esbjerg fB's Bjørn Brinkager threw himself towards the right post 7 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Pelle Hvidegaard, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Pelle Hvidegaard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rune Griffenfeld in the 12thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Bjørn Brinkager, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Terry Schouli managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Hyklerne's supporters rose to their feet, but Terry Schouli was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wawrzyniec Walicki breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Laurids Vestskov scored 0-1 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wawrzyniec Walicki, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pelle Hvidegaard got free with Bjørn Brinkager in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Esbjerg fB were furious when Severin Torbell was red carded, 19 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sophus Jønstrup couldn't finish the play. Esbjerg fB's Thomas Bjørgum pulled a muscle in his back after 23 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 23 minutes into the game, Peiter Brændbyge was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Hyklerne's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esbjerg fB the free kick. Peiter Brændbyge kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. In the 25th minute of the match Ib Dalsted sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bjørn Brinkager skillfully saved the ball. In the 26th match minute, FC Hyklerne was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hannibal Felsø to maneuver through the defense. During the 28th minute of the match Peiter Brændbyge completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Peiter Brændbyge a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Bjørn Brinkager made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rune Griffenfeld in the 31st minute of play. Esbjerg fB's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ib Dalsted in the 32nd minute. Rune Griffenfeld received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Bjørn Brinkager tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rune Griffenfeld might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bjørn Brinkager. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rune Griffenfeld ran back to his position shaking his head. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

52 minutes into the game, Rune Griffenfeld cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Bjørn Brinkager was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bjørn Brinkager took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rune Griffenfeld, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58th minute, Rune Griffenfeld ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bjørn Brinkager was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. 61 minutes into the match, Esbjerg fB's Rune Griffenfeld sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bjørn Brinkager narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Esbjerg fB made a substitution. Verner Salling replaced Iver Tardorf. In the 63rd match minute, FC Hyklerne was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sophus Jønstrup to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Esbjerg fB's Ib Dalsted tried to score from far away in the 64th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Sixten Hvejsel hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ib Dalsted in the 66th minute of play forced FC Hyklerne's goalkeeper Bjørn Brinkager to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Terry Schouli got free with Wawrzyniec Walicki in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. FC Hyklerne's Bjørn Brinkager played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rune Griffenfeld in the 79th minute of play. After having played for 82 minutes, Rune Griffenfeld managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esbjerg fB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rune Griffenfeld was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Rune Griffenfeld notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of FC Hyklerne's Bjørn Brinkager. Bjørn Brinkager was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Rune Griffenfeld managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esbjerg fB's supporters rose to their feet, but Rune Griffenfeld was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The referee ignored Esbjerg fB's protests and gave Zakarias Brejnrod a yellow card for diving instead.
