The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Olivier Gilg helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA booed when DIPLOMATA FC PAB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olivier Gilg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chico Donato showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Inocencio Cristos, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. A collision led to DIPLOMATA FC PAB getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Arnulfo Dolfos hit a great ball. Chico Donato didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Miguel Prosperi went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elpidio Francis in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chico Donato prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After the first half ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Olivier Gilg to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Olivier Gilg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Branislav Velchevski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Olivier Gilg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Branislav Velchevski was relentless in the 55th minute of the game.
