Melquiades Amor breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 8 minutes into the game, Ade Sudarno was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Indonesia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Peru the free kick. Ade Sudarno kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. 13 minutes into the match, U21 Peru's goalkeeper Melquiades Amor had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Riswan Sanusi. Melquiades Amor was a little too slow when Honestra Haridinata got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 41st minute. The score was now 2-2. Anis Prabowo's late challenge caught a U21 Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anis Prabowo helped the player get up and apologised. U21 Indonesia's Suryo Zaelani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dennis Bergkamp in the 45th minute of play. A collision led to U21 Peru getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Egoitz Ferreiro hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anak Junior got free with Melquiades Amor in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Ramon Del Piero received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Suryo Zaelani came out and tried to block the shot, but Ramon Del Piero slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 56th minute. After 59 played minutes U21 Indonesia got a freekick which was hit by Ade Sudarno. Suryo Zaelani made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Dennis Bergkamp sent off a good shot on target. 63 minutes into the match, U21 Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Anak Junior came free, but Melquiades Amor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramon Del Piero in the 64th minute of play forced U21 Indonesia's goalkeeper Suryo Zaelani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 Peru made a substitution. León Zambrano replaced Artaldo Longoria. U21 Peru's Orlando Orlando was substituted for Dennis Bergkamp. After 77 minutes of play, U21 Indonesia's Anak Junior made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Melquiades Amor was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Leobardo Riera in the 87th minute of play forced U21 Indonesia's goalkeeper Suryo Zaelani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched U21 Peru eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
