Penuel Football Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. With a little luck, Penuel Football Club's Victorio Detres got control of the ball when Juan Corredor tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nikola Alvaro made a kick off. If Juan Corredor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 3-0 became the score in the 63rd minute when Patxi Palenzuela elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Juan Corredor might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Victorio Detres. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Victorio Detres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruud van Nistelrooij, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Penuel Football Club's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
