Lars Elssen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Rein Goethals might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Stefaan Van Hoyveldt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rein Goethals ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of de belletrekkers booed when SK Gullegem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Theo de Pelsmakere didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lars Elssen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albertus Reijdams in the 25th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albertus Reijdams in the 81st minute of play forced de belletrekkers's goalkeeper Lars Elssen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute, Albertus Reijdams reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Lars Elssen. The goal made the score 1-2. After some careless play in the de belletrekkers defense, Albertus Reijdams kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lars Elssen. The de belletrekkers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lars Elssen should have stopped the shot. SK Gullegem's Michel Schooters got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
