The supporters of Botafogo MZRJ booed when La Bestia Negra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime de Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 8th match minute, Botafogo MZRJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernandão Batista to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Botafogo MZRJ's Rafinha Cosme got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 17th minute, Cido Nóbrega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cido Nóbrega in the 25th minute of play forced La Bestia Negra's goalkeeper Nuno Brodel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nuno Brodel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cido Nóbrega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 30 played minutes La Bestia Negra got a freekick which was hit by Eurico Pernambucano. Cido Nóbrega recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 40th minute Cido Nóbrega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicolas Urbano's late challenge caught a Botafogo MZRJ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicolas Urbano helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, La Bestia Negra's Nicolas Urbano got a free kick in the 43rd minute. When Zé Roberto Paranaense came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Botafogo MZRJ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Roberto Paranaense couldn't finish the play. In the 46thth minute of the game Cido Nóbrega who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but La Bestia Negra's Nuno Brodel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

52 minutes into the match, Cido Nóbrega notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of La Bestia Negra's Nuno Brodel. Nuno Brodel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 58th minute, Oséias Teixeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Albertinho Brodel fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored La Bestia Negra's protests and gave Albertinho Brodel a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to La Bestia Negra getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Albertinho Brodel hit a great ball. The long shot by Enio Abreu in the 64th minute really tested Nuno Brodel's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Botafogo MZRJ made a substitution. Doni Gonçalves replaced Waldir Maranhense. In the 71st match minute, La Bestia Negra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime de Andrade to maneuver through the defense. When Botafogo MZRJ's Cido Nóbrega in the 73rd minute got a chance for a shot 73rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye La Bestia Negra's goalie prevented a goal. Zé Roberto Paranaense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. After 92 minutes of play, Botafogo MZRJ's Cido Nóbrega made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nuno Brodel was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Botafogo MZRJ getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Enio Abreu hit a great ball. Botafogo MZRJ's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
