Sigmar Gustafson started the match with the kick off. Coventry Wasps were awarded a corner in the 6th minute after Carlisle United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Aleksander Rørvik took the corner. The corner ended in Calvin Townsley almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Coventry Wasps's Syd Cullen did a great save. Carlisle United were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Coventry Wasps's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Niccolo Otamendi took the corner. Syd Cullen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Calvin Townsley's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. Sigmar Gustafson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Tod Bridgeworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sigmar Gustafson in the 28th minute of play forced Carlisle United's goalkeeper Tod Bridgeworth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Carlisle United's goal looked a bit too open when Sigmar Gustafson came free, but Tod Bridgeworth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tod Bridgeworth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sigmar Gustafson in the 34th minute of the match. 40 minutes into the match, Carlisle United's goal looked a bit too open when Sigmar Gustafson came free, but Tod Bridgeworth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute, Sigmar Gustafson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tod Bridgeworth was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 46th minute Sigmar Gustafson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tod Bridgeworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The wind increased when Calvin Townsley made the kick off in the second half. Tod Bridgeworth stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sigmar Gustafson's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. In the 55th minute Coventry Wasps were awarded a corner. Aleksander Rørvik went to the cornerflag to take it. Aleksander Rørvik made a great header on Coventry Wasps's corner, it was just that Carlisle United's Tod Bridgeworth managed to reach the ball for a save. Tod Bridgeworth made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Camilo Ferrara sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sigmar Gustafson in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tod Bridgeworth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tod Bridgeworth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sigmar Gustafson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. John Moyle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tod Bridgeworth having to interfere. Tod Bridgeworth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sigmar Gustafson, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. In the 91st minute, Jake Marriott got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlisle United made a substitution. Russ Blain replaced Trey Hughes-Guy. A collision led to Carlisle United getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Russ Blain hit a great ball. In the 95th minute, Sigmar Gustafson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Coventry Wasps walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
