Alketas Bourouselos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paschalis Stavrakos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Panionios MK's Themos Leontiadis in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Olympiacos FC's goalie prevented a goal. Olívio Correia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Themos Leontiadis, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 12th minute Nemesio Hechter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alketas Bourouselos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olympiacos FC were awarded a corner in the 13th minute after Panionios MK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Christos Romanakoglou took the corner. The corner led Olympiacos FC's Christos Romanakoglou to fire away a dangerous shot which Alketas Bourouselos despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Olívio Correia was out of position in the 16 minute of play, and Allan Corrigan capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Allan Corrigan really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Panionios MK's attentive Antonis Linardakis managed to snatch the ball when Sakis Paragioudakis made a throw-in in the 18th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Themos Leontiadis in the 21st minute of play forced Olympiacos FC's goalkeeper Olívio Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Sakis Paragioudakis in the 23rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Panionios MK's Antonis Linardakis. With a little luck, Olympiacos FC's Olívio Correia got control of the ball when Allan Corrigan tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Olympiacos FC's Sakis Paragioudakis got a free kick in the 27th minute. Panionios MK's Antonis Linardakis quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Sakis Paragioudakis, made in the 30th minute of the game. Alketas Bourouselos came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Olympiacos FC's Nemesio Hechter. But to his dismay, Nemesio Hechter quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After some careless play in the Panionios MK defense, Nemesio Hechter kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alketas Bourouselos. The Panionios MK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alketas Bourouselos should have stopped the shot. In the 37th minute, Themos Leontiadis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Olívio Correia was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Panionios MK's attentive Antonis Linardakis managed to snatch the ball when Sakis Paragioudakis made a throw-in in the 39th minute of the game. 41 minutes into the match, Panionios MK's goal looked a bit too open when Paschalis Stavrakos came free, but Alketas Bourouselos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Olympiacos FC's Xosé Lim got a free kick in the 41st minute. Thanks to some nice moves Allan Corrigan could shoot a difficult shot in the 44th minute, which Olívio Correia however easily saved by the left post.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Allan Corrigan was the one to do the kick off. Themos Leontiadis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Olívio Correia having to make a save. Olympiacos FC's Olívio Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Themos Leontiadis in the 56th minute of play. 60 minutes into the match, Olympiacos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Themos Leontiadis came free, but Olívio Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 62 played minutes Olympiacos FC got a freekick which was hit by Andreas Kousoulakis. After a defensive mix-up in Olympiacos FC's zone, Argyris Ksagorarakis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olívio Correia came out of the goal and Argyris Ksagorarakis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 67th minute Allan Corrigan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olívio Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Olympiacos FC's Sakis Paragioudakis got a free kick in the 80th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Themos Leontiadis in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olívio Correia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Olympiacos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. The crowd rose to their feet as Nemesio Hechter kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alketas Bourouselos. That made the score 3-3 in the 93 minute of play. Panionios MK were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
