Alf Tempel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andre Seemayer in the 5th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Daniel Hagedorn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rapid Wien's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Hagedorn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kai-Uwe Bartek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Daniel Hagedorn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Kai-Uwe Bartek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jan-Erik Stockbauer hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomé Azevedo in the 14th minute of play. The supporters of BiBa booed when Rapid Wien was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Hagedorn didn't get a good kick on the ball. Robin Dommröse struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Kai-Uwe Bartek didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rapid Wien. Kai-Uwe Bartek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Hagedorn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Robin Dommröse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Robin Dommröse's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kai-Uwe Bartek read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Rapid Wien's Uwe Kitzbichler got a free kick in the 42nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Werner Frach got free with Kai-Uwe Bartek in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Rapid Wien getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Julius Reuter hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Alf Tempel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomé Azevedo in the 61st minute. If Robin Dommröse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robin Dommröse in the 64th minute of play forced BiBa's goalkeeper Kai-Uwe Bartek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomé Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Alf Tempel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. BiBa's Patrik Bruhn was substituted for Yanick Wils. When Daniel Hagedorn came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Rapid Wien fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Hagedorn couldn't finish the play. Alf Tempel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andre Seemayer in the 74th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robin Dommröse in the 75th minute of play forced BiBa's goalkeeper Kai-Uwe Bartek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kai-Uwe Bartek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robin Dommröse, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind BiBa's goalkeeper Kai-Uwe Bartek, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rapid Wien's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Mirco Kähler in the 81st minute. The corner led Rapid Wien's Albert Kraft to fire away a dangerous shot which Kai-Uwe Bartek despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. A collision led to Rapid Wien getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Lars Reicher hit a great ball. In the 85th minute, Robin Dommröse got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kai-Uwe Bartek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Hagedorn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alf Tempel came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by BiBa's Andre Seemayer. But to his dismay, Andre Seemayer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. BiBa walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
