Houston Fire F.C.'s Aquilino Rameriz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tracy Brunson in the 13th minute of play. A collision led to Houston Fire F.C. getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Marlon Diaz hit a great ball. In the 23rd minute Kentucky Mustangs were awarded a corner. Barry Curry went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Kentucky Mustangs's corner Cesar Hays fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Aquilino Rameriz quite easily take care of the ball. Louis Escobedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Stanford Peters tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Houston Fire F.C.'s Dexter Ogden in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Tracy Brunson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aquilino Rameriz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Stanford Peters made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guilherme Olivieri in the 38th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Tracy Brunson in the 53rd minute of play forced Houston Fire F.C.'s goalkeeper Aquilino Rameriz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kentucky Mustangs's Stanford Peters played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Deshawn Steiner in the 57th minute of play. After 62 minutes Houston Fire F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Barry Curry who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Kentucky Mustangs's corner Barry Curry fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Aquilino Rameriz quite easily take care of the ball. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Houston Fire F.C.'s goalkeeper Aquilino Rameriz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Aquilino Rameriz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tracy Brunson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner led Kentucky Mustangs's Gao Lang Feng to fire away a dangerous shot which Aquilino Rameriz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Kentucky Mustangs's Tracy Brunson got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Kentucky Mustangs's Stanford Peters got control of the ball when Lazaro Ruth tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lazaro Ruth came free with the goalkeeper in the 75th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Stanford Peters could save by the left post. In the 77th minute Louis Escobedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stanford Peters saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 79 minutes into the match, Houston Fire F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Tracy Brunson came free, but Aquilino Rameriz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
