In the 4th minute, Gaspar Linhares left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Aveiro FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 9th minute, João Pessoa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gaspar Linhares struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Nuno Pais didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aveiro FC. Higino Lameiras received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Gil Gouveia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Aveiro FC booed when DPD FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Pessoa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 20 played minutes Aveiro FC got a freekick which was hit by Tiago Ventura. If Gaspar Linhares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaspar Linhares in the 22nd minute of play forced DPD FC's goalkeeper Nuno Pais to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute, Silvano Simões made a precise shot to the right of Nuno Pais. DPD FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Nuno Pais made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaspar Linhares in the 33rd minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Silvano Simões notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of DPD FC's Nuno Pais. Nuno Pais was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 40th minute, Gaspar Linhares left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Aveiro FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Silvano Simões might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nuno Pais. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Silvano Simões ran back to his position shaking his head. DPD FC's Nuno Pais played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaspar Linhares in the 45th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lisandro Rebocho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Palmiro Ramires hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Silvano Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Nuno Pais tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gaspar Linhares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 65th minute of the match Fernando Rijo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nuno Pais showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a little luck, DPD FC's Nuno Pais got control of the ball when Tiago Ventura tried to sneak it across the goal line. DPD FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 77th minute, when Silvano Simões scored to the left of an out of position Nuno Pais, making the score, 0-7. Nuno Pais didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gaspar Linhares went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score. Nuno Pais showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaspar Linhares, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Nuno Pais took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaspar Linhares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 94 minutes into the match, Silvano Simões dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Nuno Pais, 0-10. Aveiro FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
