When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Cristobal Eneto put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Ruben Sánchez. Tauras Marčiauskas hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. 24 minutes into the match, Martin Palermo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cristian Bermund. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Magic is Back's Osvaldo Potente was substituted for Martin Palermo. Cristian Bermund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Potente in the 72nd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Cristobal Eneto kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ruben Sánchez. That made the score 1-4 in the 76 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Marplatense's Mauro Llorienzo got a free kick in the 82nd minute. In the 90th minute Cristobal Eneto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Sánchez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 93 minutes into the match, Osvaldo Potente had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cristian Bermund. Deportivo Marplatense's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Osvaldo Potente was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. When the match was over Deportivo Marplatense could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Magic is Back throughout the match.
