In the 2nd minute, Carlisle Fenwick made a precise shot to the right of Lawrance See. Stratton FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Carlisle Fenwick's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lawrance See read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. In the 7th minute Jervis Tresise shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martyon Diehl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 8th minute of the match Stratton FC got a corner. Boroondara Milan's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Brynn Andrews ran over to the corner to take the kick. Stratton FC's Brynn Andrews was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Martyon Diehl in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The supporters of Boroondara Milan booed when Stratton FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Sinden didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Stratton FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlisle Fenwick came free, but Lawrance See reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The throw-in from Jaffery Tarrant in the 18th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Boroondara Milan's Arty Shearn. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Carlisle Fenwick managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boroondara Milan's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlisle Fenwick was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lawrance See breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 27 minutes, Alberto Sinden mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stratton FC and the Boroondara Milan players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alberto Sinden kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Lawrance See showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlisle Fenwick, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Boroondara Milan's Martyon Diehl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bradshaw Waller in the 31st minute of play. Alessandro Sacchi hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlisle Fenwick in the 36th minute of play forced Stratton FC's goalkeeper Lawrance See to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute of the match Boroondara Milan got a corner. Stratton FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ned Mills ran over to the corner to take the kick. A collision led to Stratton FC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Cristinel Paraschivescu hit a great ball. After 43 played minutes Stratton FC got a freekick which was hit by Jens Sundström. The supporters of Stratton FC booed when Boroondara Milan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arty Shearn didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 48th minute of the match Brynn Andrews sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Martyon Diehl skillfully saved the ball. After the first half Boroondara Milan were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlisle Fenwick to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlisle Fenwick in the 52nd minute of play forced Stratton FC's goalkeeper Lawrance See to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th minute of the match Boroondara Milan got a corner. Stratton FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ned Mills ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Boroondara Milan's Paco Everett getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 56th minute Paco Everett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lawrance See saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 67th minute, Boroondara Milan's Andres Stevens ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Lawrance See. Lawrance See yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Arty Shearn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Lawrance See tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stratton FC's Alessandro Sacchi got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Stratton FC's Lawrance See proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Stratton FC from getting a goal against them. In the 80th minute of the match, Kris Pearse tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Lawrance See saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 84 played minutes Stratton FC got a freekick which was hit by Jens Sundström. Stratton FC made a substitution. Jared Wivell replaced Jens Sundström. Jens Sundström kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Martyon Diehl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Warhurst, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alessandro Sacchi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lawrance See made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Jason Sperling sent off a good shot on target. The Boroondara Milan supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Boroondara Milan would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
