The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Club Deportivo Santiago's Ray Hayward in the 4th minute got a chance for a shot 4th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye C.A. GUAYACO's goalie prevented a goal. 5 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Santiago's goal looked a bit too open when Marino Grazia came free, but Iker Yashin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 7 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Ray Hayward sped through C.A. GUAYACO's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Erwin Pellicer. Erwin Pellicer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ray Hayward's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. When Club Deportivo Santiago's Ray Hayward in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye C.A. GUAYACO's goalie prevented a goal. Erwin Pellicer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ray Hayward, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute Marino Grazia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iker Yashin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Club Deportivo Santiago defense, Marino Grazia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iker Yashin. The Club Deportivo Santiago fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iker Yashin should have stopped the shot. If Caicedo Berrondo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ray Hayward in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Erwin Pellicer saved C.A. GUAYACO from getting behind. Joao Hincapié might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Iker Yashin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joao Hincapié ran back to his position shaking his head. 27 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Santiago's goal looked a bit too open when Caicedo Berrondo came free, but Iker Yashin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28thth minute of the game Ray Hayward who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C.A. GUAYACO's Erwin Pellicer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Erwin Pellicer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ray Hayward's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Ray Hayward struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Erwin Pellicer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Deportivo Santiago. After 38 minutes, Ray Hayward made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. C.A. GUAYACO's Erwin Pellicer tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. A throw-in in the 47th minute of the game was made by Victoro Guillarte with Thorvald Egfjord as target, who quickly passed the ball forward.

In the 56th minute Ray Hayward shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erwin Pellicer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ray Hayward in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erwin Pellicer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 60th minute, Ray Hayward left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Deportivo Santiago fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. In the 68th minute, Ray Hayward ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erwin Pellicer was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. C.A. GUAYACO's Rodrigo Caborredondo was substituted for Joao Hincapié. C.A. GUAYACO's Jimmy Estopinal was substituted for Caicedo Berrondo. Iker Yashin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jimmy Estopinal in the 74th minute of play. Iker Yashin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marino Grazia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. C.A. GUAYACO's Jimmy Estopinal got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Iker Yashin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jimmy Estopinal in the 79th minute of play. In the 81st minute Ray Hayward shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erwin Pellicer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Club Deportivo Santiago's zone, Marino Grazia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iker Yashin came out of the goal and Marino Grazia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With an all-out effort, Club Deportivo Santiago's Erwin Pellicer threw himself towards the right post 87 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ray Hayward, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 90th minute of the match C.A. GUAYACO got a corner. Club Deportivo Santiago's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Herbert Serwacki ran over to the corner to take the kick. The supporters of Club Deportivo Santiago booed when C.A. GUAYACO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jimmy Estopinal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Erwin Pellicer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ray Hayward's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Club Deportivo Santiago eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
