After recieving a nice pass, Sporting de Gijón's Wilfredo Etxahun tried to score from far away in the 14th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 18 minutes into the match, Benigno Eriz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vinicio Gau. Despidida AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Benigno Eriz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 21 minutes into the match, Despidida AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Wilfredo Etxahun came free, but Vinicio Gau reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Medina kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Celestino Illart hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Despidida AFC's Cirilo Peruanton got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Aquilino Oliviero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaias Oihan in the 25th minute of play. Vinicio Gau showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Medina, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Roberto Herensuge to make the kick off. In the 54th minute, Wilfredo Etxahun left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting de Gijón fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Sporting de Gijón's Omar Etor was substituted for Simon Cesario. 61 minutes into the game, Sporting de Gijón's Angel Di Maria nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vinicio Gau made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. When Bonifacio Oliverio fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting de Gijón's protests and gave Bonifacio Oliverio a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Despidida AFC booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bonifacio Oliverio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Isaias Oihan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Aquilino Oliviero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 75th minute, Bonifacio Oliverio fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Bonifacio Oliverio succeeded in the game's 75th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-5. 79 minutes into the match, Despidida AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Angel Di Maria came free, but Vinicio Gau reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eloy Timo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Vinicio Gau made a huge save. With his leg Vinicio Gau managed to avoid a goal in the 83rdth minute, when Sporting de Gijón's Benigno Eriz fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Isaias Oihan hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. In the 86th match minute, Despidida AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ezequiel Lore to maneuver through the defense. Despidida AFC's Vinicio Gau played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bonifacio Oliverio in the 87th minute of play. Faustino Gaztea hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Sporting de Gijón's Bonifacio Oliverio suffered a concussion in the 89th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. 89 minutes into the game, Cirilo Peruanton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Despidida AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting de Gijón the free kick. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Fausto George replaced Bonifacio Oliverio. When the match had been going on for 91 minutes, Sporting de Gijón's Wilfredo Etxahun got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Vinicio Gau. Ezequiel Lore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Omar Etor during the 97th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Sporting de Gijón's Omar Etor got a free kick in the 97th minute. When the final whistle sounded Sporting de Gijón left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Despidida AFC.
