Esteban Ekaitz made in the 12th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Saturnino Curcio however managed to control. In the 14th minute Bruno Fonso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Fernendo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Bruno Fonso came free, but Dante Fernendo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute, Ademar Rocha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting de Gijón fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Rene Higuita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alejandro Rufo in the 22nd minute of play. Cacey 武磊 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Fernendo having to interfere. Niceto Dominix kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bruno Fonso got free with Dante Fernendo in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Club Ibiza's Rene Higuita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alejandro Rufo in the 27th minute of play. Cacey 武磊 struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Dante Fernendo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Ibiza. The supporters of Club Ibiza booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rune Fanström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bruno Fonso in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dante Fernendo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 39 minutes into the match, Club Ibiza's goal looked a bit too open when Ademar Rocha came free, but Rene Higuita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Bruno Fonso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Sporting de Gijón's Dante Fernendo got control of the ball when Bruno Fonso tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lu Xun Lei kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Matias Bilintx replaced Alejandro Rufo.

Dante Fernendo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Fonso in the 54th minute of play. After 55 minutes Sporting de Gijón's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Xie Bin Wei who took care of the corner kick. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Dante Fernendo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Club Ibiza's Sidney Pimenta was substituted for Bruno Fonso. Club Ibiza's Urbasa Uria was substituted for Gelu Cozmâncă. Club Ibiza were awarded a corner in the 62th minute after Sporting de Gijón's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Xie Bin Wei took the corner. Sidney Pimenta took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dante Fernendo. Dante Fernendo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Dante Fernendo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dante Fernendo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Pimenta in the 77th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Pimenta in the 80th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Dante Fernendo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Club Ibiza defense, Volli Püss kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rene Higuita. The Club Ibiza fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rene Higuita should have stopped the shot. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Constantino Nuno replaced Rune Fanström. Sidney Pimenta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dante Fernendo having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Pimenta in the 86th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Dante Fernendo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 88 minutes into the match, Club Ibiza's Sidney Pimenta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dante Fernendo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 93 minutes into the match, Sidney Pimenta had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Fernendo. Sporting de Gijón's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sidney Pimenta was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sidney Pimenta in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Fernendo saved Sporting de Gijón from getting behind.
