The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of CE LAJEADENSE RS booed when América-SC F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonel Guedes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th match minute, CE LAJEADENSE RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celsinho Castro to maneuver through the defense. After 20 minutes, Elivélton de Castro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the América-SC F.C. and the CE LAJEADENSE RS players grew even worse after the yellow card. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leonel Guedes to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, CE LAJEADENSE RS's goal looked a bit too open when Frederico Melo came free, but Adam Doykin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. América-SC F.C.'s Armandinho Medeiros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save América-SC F.C. from getting a goal against them. In the 73rd minute, Gilvan Moura reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Armandinho Medeiros. The goal made the score 1-4. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 83rd minute of the game. One of América-SC F.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of CE LAJEADENSE RS:s goal. The goalkeeper, Armandinho Medeiros, was totally fooled by CE LAJEADENSE RS's Caetano Saad, who 85 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 88th minute, CE LAJEADENSE RS's Caetano Saad ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Armandinho Medeiros. Armandinho Medeiros yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-6. 91 minutes into the match, Humberto Rossi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Armandinho Medeiros. América-SC F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Humberto Rossi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. CE LAJEADENSE RS had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
