When Jacinto Mino fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palermo's protests and gave Jacinto Mino a yellow card for diving instead. In the 17th minute, Jacinto Mino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gil Ceni made an important save on a dangerous shot by Uriel Georgiev in the 22nd minute. Javier Bazkoare hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Rafa Vale hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Rafael Hondo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Gil Ceni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Teofilo Federigo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sérgio Corrêa, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sérgio Corrêa in the 39th minute of play forced Palermo's goalkeeper Teofilo Federigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
