Leopoldo Fernanco might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manúel Bento. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leopoldo Fernanco ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Fernanco in the 17th minute of play forced Dogelo's goalkeeper Manúel Bento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ceferino Austin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oliverios Marcilla, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Manúel Bento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopoldo Fernanco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oliverios Marcilla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 35th minute, Leopoldo Fernanco made a precise shot to the right of Manúel Bento. Dogelo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oliverios Marcilla in the 38th minute of play forced Celta de Virgos's goalkeeper Ceferino Austin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Celta de Virgos booed when Dogelo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Israel didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Celta de Virgos getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Agustin Enetz hit a great ball. Oliverios Marcilla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ceferino Austin having to interfere. Frank Catarinense's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ceferino Austin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Celta de Virgos were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ceferino Austin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Frank Catarinense went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Dogelo's Manúel Bento got control of the ball when Cosme Montrell tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ceferino Austin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lico Catarinense in the 59th minute of play. Celta de Virgos made a substitution. Fernan Moise replaced Arnoldo Poz. Dogelo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ahmet Danış Garipbaş in the 61st minute. Manúel Bento came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Celta de Virgos's Arnoldo Florian. But to his dismay, Arnoldo Florian quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Dogelo's Manúel Bento proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Dogelo from getting a goal against them. After 66 played minutes Celta de Virgos got a freekick which was hit by Roque Silviano. Dogelo's Luís Souto was substituted for Ahmet Danış Garipbaş. Roque Silviano hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Manúel Bento stood somewhat misplaced when Arnoldo Florian came free in front of goal and shot 1-3 to the left of him in the 78 minute. After 83 played minutes Dogelo got a freekick which was hit by Sebastián Verón. Ceferino Austin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastián Verón, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Frank Catarinense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ceferino Austin was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. Luís Souto scored 2-3 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ceferino Austin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match was over Celta de Virgos could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Dogelo throughout the match.
