Celta de Virgos's Ceferino Austin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bengt-Arne Åberg in the 3rd minute of play. Leopoldo Fernanco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Generoso Gonzalez made a huge save. Celta de Virgos's Ceferino Austin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ke Xun in the 15th minute of play. Ceferino Austin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bengt-Arne Åberg in the 18th minute of play. Generoso Gonzalez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leopoldo Fernanco's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bengt-Arne Åberg in the 36th minute of play forced Celta de Virgos's goalkeeper Ceferino Austin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cosme Mendebal hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. 42 minutes in the game, Cosme Montrell fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Generoso Gonzalez having to interfere. Generoso Gonzalez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopoldo Fernanco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th minute, Agustin Enetz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Generoso Gonzalez made a fantastic save in the 48th minute, when Leopoldo Fernanco sent off a good shot on target. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Ceferino Austin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bengt-Arne Åberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. In the 66th minute, Wilfredo Bieito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Celta de Virgos made a substitution. Roque Silviano replaced Cosme Montrell. Sportivo Smirnoff Vodka made a substitution. Gustavo-Hernán Egoi replaced Bengt-Arne Åberg. Celta de Virgos made a substitution. Arnoldo Florian replaced Leopoldo Fernanco. After a rather tough play, Sportivo Smirnoff Vodka's Wilfredo Bieito got a free kick in the 67th minute. The Celta de Virgos fans' excitement grew in the 68th match minute when Celta de Virgos's Arnoldo Florian looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Celta de Virgos's Ceferino Austin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Ochoa in the 78th minute of play. Gustavo-Hernán Egoi's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 81stth minute, Ceferino Austin skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Generoso Gonzalez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnoldo Florian in the 89th minute of play. A collision led to Sportivo Smirnoff Vodka getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Pedro Ochoa hit a great ball. In the 94th minute Arnoldo Florian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Generoso Gonzalez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th match minute, Sportivo Smirnoff Vodka was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Karel Kacharov to maneuver through the defense. Generoso Gonzalez came out of the goal in the 98th minute to try and stop a shot by Celta de Virgos's Arnoldo Florian. But to his dismay, Arnoldo Florian quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Celta de Virgos fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sportivo Smirnoff Vodka had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
