After 27 played minutes Real Sociedad got a freekick which was hit by Hervé Couturier. The audience was convinced that Gaël Moutard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elvio Niva was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. The attack was good, but when Gaël Moutard in the 32nd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Elvio Niva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaël Moutard in the 77th minute of play. Marco Ginola made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Jeremias Napier sent off a good shot on target. In the 85th minute of the game Damian Gumaro made a throw-in which Jeremias Napier played forward. Bruno Baristo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Marco Ginola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jean-Sébastien Beauchet hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. 90 minutes into the match, Real Sociedad's goalkeeper Marco Ginola had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jeremias Napier. François Vieu charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed François Vieu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ⓕⓤⓢⓘⓞⓝ ⒻⒸ booed when Real Sociedad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. François Vieu didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Real Sociedad had won after a very even match.
