The MINEIROS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Serginho Taffarel should have stopped the shot. After 19 minutes, Joel Quadros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MINEIROS and the DIF LEEDS BK players grew even worse after the yellow card. Serginho Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Prosper Pike, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Aaron Bergqvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Quadros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, DIF LEEDS BK's Boris Arvidsson got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 54th match minute, MINEIROS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Paraíba to maneuver through the defense. Serginho Taffarel was out of position in the 56 minute of play, and Prosper Pike capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Prosper Pike really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. Hans Kellbom struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Serginho Taffarel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for DIF LEEDS BK. In the 60th minute Prosper Pike shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Serginho Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. DIF LEEDS BK's Aaron Bergqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benê Amorim in the 64th minute of play. Ingvar Nordkvist's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 67thth minute, Serginho Taffarel skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Toninho Goiano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. MINEIROS made a substitution. Maicon Quintal replaced Benê Amorim. After a defensive mix-up in MINEIROS's zone, Prosper Pike stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Serginho Taffarel came out of the goal and Prosper Pike tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ingvar Nordkvist could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Serginho Taffarel made a huge save. Prosper Pike received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Serginho Taffarel came out and tried to block the shot, but Prosper Pike slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 90th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. DIF LEEDS BK had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
