Edgard Reis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 19 minutes into the game, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Marcel Abreu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edgard Reis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. The Saiko FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul were winning 0-5.

Edgard Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopoldo Sanches in the 51st minute of play. Edgard Reis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leopoldo Sanches's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. Edgard Reis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcel Abreu in the 88th minute. In the 89th minute of the match S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a corner. Saiko FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leopoldo Sanches ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Luizão Prata getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Saiko FC's Edgard Reis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Saiko FC from getting a goal against them. Edgard Reis stood somewhat misplaced when Leopoldo Sanches came free in front of goal and shot 0-12 to the left of him in the 94 minute. When the match was over S.E.R. Caxias do Sul could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Saiko FC throughout the match.
