After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Roko Smolić managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kanarinci's supporters rose to their feet, but Roko Smolić was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorge Eger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 18th minute, Dragutin Vasiljević ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jorge Eger was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Dragutin Vasiljević struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Jorge Eger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kanarinci. Sport Clube Recife were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Kanarinci's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Wilson Cardoso took the corner. The corner ended in Wilson Cardoso almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Kanarinci's Vlaho Modrah did a great save. 25 minutes into the game, Kanarinci's Dragutin Vasiljević nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jorge Eger made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. 29 minutes into the game, Alessandro Amorim cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Vlaho Modrah was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 41st minute, Otávio de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 47th minute, Alessandro Amorim left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sport Clube Recife fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-2. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-2 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Roko Smolić stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tales Meira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Vlaho Modrah made a huge save. In the 54th minute Dragutin Vasiljević shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Eger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the game, Ostoja Martinović was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jorge Eger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roko Smolić, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sport Clube Recife's goalkeeper Jorge Eger, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 67th match minute, Sport Clube Recife was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Otávio de Souza to maneuver through the defense. Otávio de Souza hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Petar Krile scored 6-2 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jorge Eger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
