OAMOREVERDE's Washington Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Pimenta in the 9th minute of play. Paulo Pimenta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Ronaldinho Gaúcho came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Chapadao Rs fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldinho Gaúcho couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Diamantino Nóbrega during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Diamantino Nóbrega kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Chapadao Rs's zone, Mário Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgílio Abraão came out of the goal and Mário Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 14 minutes into the game, Tomé do Nascimento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Chapadao Rs's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave OAMOREVERDE the free kick. Tomé do Nascimento hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute, Ronaldinho Gaúcho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Chapadao Rs fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Reinaldo Cardoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgílio Abraão having to interfere. A collision led to Chapadao Rs getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Paulo Pimenta hit a great ball. Mário Aguiar struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Virgílio Abraão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for OAMOREVERDE. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tomás Alvarenga during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tomás Alvarenga hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind OAMOREVERDE's goalkeeper Washington Moraes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Jonathan Varela fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored OAMOREVERDE's protests and gave Jonathan Varela a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th minute Ronaldinho Gaúcho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Washington Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, Ronaldinho Gaúcho notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of OAMOREVERDE's Washington Moraes. Washington Moraes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Chapadao Rs were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mário Aguiar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Washington Moraes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldinho Gaúcho, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Reinaldo Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. OAMOREVERDE's Mário Aguiar got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 61st minute Mário Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgílio Abraão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldinho Gaúcho might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Washington Moraes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ronaldinho Gaúcho ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mário Aguiar in the 64th minute of play forced Chapadao Rs's goalkeeper Virgílio Abraão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute, Ediberto Sá hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 80th minute, Mário Aguiar left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The OAMOREVERDE fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. After some careless play in the Chapadao Rs defense, Reinaldo Cardoso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Virgílio Abraão. The Chapadao Rs fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Virgílio Abraão should have stopped the shot.
