In the 29th minute Augustin Micin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alberto Soeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 31 minutes into the match, Zeca Esteves notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Jastreb's Marinko Blažanović. Marinko Blažanović was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luiz Paulo da Rocha hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Vedran Jusićs short, quick shot in the 47thth minute got Alberto Soeiro to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Slavko Preskočil in the 88th minute of play forced Motta Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Alberto Soeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 89 minutes into the game, Jorge Vieira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Motta Futebol Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Jastreb the free kick. A collision led to Motta Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. The Jastreb manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Motta Futebol Clube to win.
