In the 6thth minute of the game Pascual Austin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arnakimedres's Severino Angostina was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ismael Medina Bello in the 8th minute of play forced Arnakimedres's goalkeeper Severino Angostina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Pascual Austin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Severino Angostina. Arnakimedres's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pascual Austin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Arnakimedres's zone, Pascual Austin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Severino Angostina came out of the goal and Pascual Austin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcos Vargas in the 14th minute of play forced Arnakimedres's goalkeeper Severino Angostina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Arnakimedres's Cai Peiro got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 21st minute, Marcelo Salas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The RIVER fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. With a little luck, RIVER's Angel Comizzo got control of the ball when Cai Peiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Severino Angostina didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pascual Austin went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. In the 38th minute, Pascual Austin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 45th minute, Seme Borras got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cai Peiro to make the kick off. With his leg Severino Angostina managed to avoid a goal in the 55thth minute, when RIVER's Pascual Austin fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Seme Borras fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angel Comizzo having to interfere. Pascual Austin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Severino Angostina read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. After 68 minutes, Marcelo Salas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the RIVER and the Arnakimedres players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, RIVER's Marcelo Salas got a free kick in the 68th minute. RIVER's Maximiliano Rey was substituted for Ismael Medina Bello. RIVER's Angel Comizzo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cai Peiro in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th minute, RIVER's Marcelo Salas dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-9. Angel Comizzo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cai Peiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Marcelino Afonso fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored RIVER's protests and gave Marcelino Afonso a yellow card for diving instead. In the 93rd match minute, RIVER was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelino Afonso to maneuver through the defense. Pascual Austin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
