The referee ignored Sportivo Mela Banco's protests and gave Gabriel Pere a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Go Ahead Eagles getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Florencio Lluc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Themistoklis Charalambakis having to interfere. Eugenio Chumo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vassilis Stratidis, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Iker Cordarrell made a kick off. If Vassilis Stratidis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 50th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Go Ahead Eagles's Themistoklis Charalambakis got control of the ball when Iker Cordarrell tried to sneak it across the goal line.
