Serginho Taffarel was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Refael Konings showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 42 minute of play. Quentin Villyn kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. In the 46th minute of the match Nando Leão sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dre Coomans skillfully saved the ball. The Selebi-Phikwe players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. MINEIROS were winning 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Benjamin De Wulf stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The Selebi-Phikwe fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. When Hugo Albuquerque came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the MINEIROS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hugo Albuquerque couldn't finish the play. MINEIROS's Nico de Mendonça was substituted for Carlos Alberto Saraiva. Toninho Goiano made a great header on MINEIROS's corner, it was just that Selebi-Phikwe's Dre Coomans managed to reach the ball for a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Refael Konings in the 67th minute of play forced MINEIROS's goalkeeper Serginho Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 73 minutes into the match, MINEIROS's goal looked a bit too open when Yanis Van Schoorisse came free, but Serginho Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dre Coomans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Quadros in the 81st minute of the match. Selebi-Phikwe's Dre Coomans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benê Amorim in the 82nd minute of play. 87 minutes into the match, Selebi-Phikwe's goalkeeper Dre Coomans had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Toninho Goiano. 88 minutes into the game, Quentin Villyn was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Selebi-Phikwe's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MINEIROS the free kick. The supporters of MINEIROS booed when Selebi-Phikwe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quentin Villyn didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hugo Albuquerque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dre Coomans having to interfere. MINEIROS's Joel Quadros was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 93rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal.
