Apolo Escobar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 14th match minute, El Pinar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sustrai Falceto to maneuver through the defense. Aztore Sarantes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Apolo Escobar in the 15th minute of the match. After some careless play in the La Cienaga defense, Sustrai Falceto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Santo Erramu. The La Cienaga fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Santo Erramu should have stopped the shot. Santo Erramu came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by El Pinar's Sabino Orue. But to his dismay, Sabino Orue quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 29 minutes into the game, Paulo Borrero cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Santo Erramu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 37th minute, Ariel Hug hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sabino Orue in the 41st minute of play forced La Cienaga's goalkeeper Santo Erramu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zarando Dolmos charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zarando Dolmos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 43 played minutes El Pinar got a freekick which was hit by Zarando Dolmos. Apolo Escobar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Apolo Escobar to strike the kick off in the second half. Elvio Demesio hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After 56 minutes of play, El Pinar's Paulo Borrero made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Santo Erramu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Santo Erramu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sabino Orue in the 64th minute of play. With an all-out effort, El Pinar's Santo Erramu threw himself towards the right post 69 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sustrai Falceto, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Paulo Borrero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Santo Erramu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulo Borrero in the 76th minute. Santo Erramu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sabino Orue, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind La Cienaga's goalkeeper Santo Erramu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 82 minutes into the match, La Cienaga's goal looked a bit too open when Sustrai Falceto came free, but Santo Erramu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 87 minutes into the game, Sabino Orue recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Santo Erramu. Sabino Orue showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-6. When Timoteo Lapurdi fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored La Cienaga's protests and gave Timoteo Lapurdi a yellow card for diving instead. Timoteo Lapurdi hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. El Pinar's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
