Teofilo Unai spun around in front of the goal 16 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Salelles's goal. Leonel Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antoni Amorebieta in the 23rd minute of play. In the 24th minute Matthew De la Torre shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonel Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Salelles's Ahmed Venon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erivaldo Pernambucano in the 27th minute of play. Leonel Barros made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Matthew De la Torre sent off a good shot on target. 29 minutes into the match, Salelles's goal looked a bit too open when Teofilo Unai came free, but Ahmed Venon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 34thth minute of the game Wei Yao Sha who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Salelles's Ahmed Venon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Giorgio Camacho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 37 minutes into the game, Wellington Phoenix's Erivaldo Pernambucano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ahmed Venon made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Matthew De la Torre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Leonel Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Ahmed Venon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erivaldo Pernambucano in the 50th minute of play. Matthew De la Torre charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Matthew De la Torre the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 56th match minute, Salelles was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matthew De la Torre to maneuver through the defense. Wellington Phoenix's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Egídio de Almeida in the 60th minute. In the 74th minute, Erivaldo Pernambucano reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ahmed Venon. The goal made the score 0-4. Wellington Phoenix's Luizão Castro was substituted for Wei Yao Sha. After 80 played minutes Wellington Phoenix got a freekick which was hit by Erivaldo Pernambucano. Ahmed Venon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Egídio de Almeida in the 83rd minute of the match. Luizão Castro ran back to his position shaking his head. The Salelles supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Wellington Phoenix's performance. The match ended with a win for Wellington Phoenix.
