The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 10 minutes had been played when some careless play by AFC Napoca's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Manfred Watkins was slow to take the kick. During this time Calcio U21's players had a chance to rest. After having played for 11 minutes, Manfred Watkins managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Calcio U21's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manfred Watkins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Doru Burtescu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Wiktor Bock made a huge save. A collision led to Calcio U21 getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Rasmus Gudmundsson hit a great ball. Corneliu Bocșa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl-Johan Lidman, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Karl-Johan Lidman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Calcio U21's supporters rose to their feet, but Karl-Johan Lidman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Corneliu Bocșa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Corneliu Bocșa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manfred Watkins's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Wiktor Bock showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matei Enciulescu in the 24th minute of the match. Martin Pătrășconiu made in the 28th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Doru Burtescu. AFC Napoca's Emil Chioreanu managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Emanuel Lundgren in the 29 minute of the game. Karl-Johan Lidman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Corneliu Bocșa having to make a save. AFC Napoca's Corneliu Bocșa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl-Johan Lidman in the 35th minute of play. When Ivan Bjursell came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Calcio U21 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivan Bjursell couldn't finish the play. Emil Chioreanu hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. In the 48th minute, Karl-Johan Lidman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Corneliu Bocșa was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After the first half Calcio U21 were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Manfred Watkins made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Calcio U21's goal looked a bit too open when Matei Enciulescu came free, but Wiktor Bock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th match minute, Calcio U21 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rasmus Gudmundsson to maneuver through the defense. Calcio U21's attentive Emanuel Lundgren managed to snatch the ball when Martin Pătrășconiu made a throw-in in the 57th minute of the game. In the 59th minute, Doru Burtescu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wiktor Bock was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. When Calcio U21's Karl-Johan Lidman in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye AFC Napoca's goalie prevented a goal. In the 64th minute, Matei Enciulescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Calcio U21's Iivo Puistola was substituted for Manfred Watkins. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Karl-Johan Lidman took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Corneliu Bocșa to make any attempt to save it. Wiktor Bock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emil Chioreanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wiktor Bock showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emil Chioreanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Martin Pătrășconiu kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. AFC Napoca made a substitution. Mihnea Jurăscu replaced Emil Chioreanu. Calcio U21's Emanuel Lundgren quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Martin Pătrășconiu, made in the 95th minute of the game. When the final whistle went the supporters of Calcio U21 were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant AFC Napoca side.
