In the 4th minute, Dionysis Zacharidis reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Tage Smestad. The goal made the score 1-0. Giorgos Poniros's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Tage Smestad firmly grabbed it by the left post. When IRAKLIS's Dionysis Zacharidis in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Per-Kristian Granlund hit a great ball. 26 minutes into the match, Curtis United's goal looked a bit too open when Dionysis Zacharidis came free, but Tage Smestad reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tore Linnerud might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Konstantinos Pedoulakis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tore Linnerud ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, IRAKLIS's Zisis Bountos got a free kick in the 36th minute. After 39 played minutes IRAKLIS got a freekick which was hit by Giorgos Poniros. Yngvar Øvrum scored 1-1 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Konstantinos Pedoulakis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tore Linnerud received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Konstantinos Pedoulakis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, IRAKLIS's Alexis Stasinopoulos got a free kick in the 46th minute. 48 minutes into the match, Tore Linnerud had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Konstantinos Pedoulakis. IRAKLIS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tore Linnerud was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dionysis Zacharidis to strike the kick off in the second half. Tage Smestad made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dionysis Zacharidis in the 56th minute of play. After some careless play in the Curtis United defense, Dionysis Zacharidis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tage Smestad. The Curtis United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tage Smestad should have stopped the shot. Tage Smestad showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giorgos Poniros, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. 64 minutes into the match, Curtis United's goal looked a bit too open when Dionysis Zacharidis came free, but Tage Smestad reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yngvar Øvrum in the 66th minute of play forced IRAKLIS's goalkeeper Konstantinos Pedoulakis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 67 minutes into the game, Tore Linnerud cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Konstantinos Pedoulakis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 71st minute the ball was on its way in behind IRAKLIS's goalkeeper Konstantinos Pedoulakis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dionysis Zacharidis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tage Smestad made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giorgos Poniros in the 76th minute of play. In the 77th minute Zisis Bountos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tage Smestad saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Giorgos Poniros came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the IRAKLIS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Giorgos Poniros couldn't finish the play. 83 minutes into the match, Giorgos Poniros notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Curtis United's Tage Smestad. Tage Smestad was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The IRAKLIS fans' excitement grew in the 87th match minute when IRAKLIS's Giorgos Poniros looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Dionysis Zacharidis hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. If Tore Linnerud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to IRAKLIS getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Giorgos Poniros hit a great ball. With a little luck, IRAKLIS's Konstantinos Pedoulakis got control of the ball when Tore Linnerud tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The IRAKLIS fans cheered their team off the field, for while Curtis United had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
