João Carlos Paraíba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chrisostomos Grimsø, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The supporters of Heidemann FC - FSCMZ booed when Karen FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mathias Julin didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Heidemann FC - FSCMZ's Edson Urbano slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ma Yong Jun. That made the score 1-0 after 20 minutes of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Bon Guidetti managed to get in a good position for a shot. Karen FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Bon Guidetti was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Carlos Paraíba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ivo de Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Ma Yong Jun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Chrisostomos Grimsø to make the kick off.
