In the 5th match minute, Norrlands Athen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eddie Trulsson to maneuver through the defense. Matthias Brandin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Carew, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Källberg in the 11th minute of play forced Svartvallstjärnens IF's goalkeeper Matthias Brandin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Björn Biörnberg kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Svartvallstjärnens IF's Björn Andberg tried to score from far away in the 17th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 20 minutes into the match, Svartvallstjärnens IF's goal looked a bit too open when Jakob Friberger came free, but Matthias Brandin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manfred Fribäck made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sven-Erik Asmundsson in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan-Erik Carlsson in the 27th minute of play forced Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Manfred Fribäck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Eskil Möllgren came free, but Manfred Fribäck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. During this time Norrlands Athen's players had a chance to rest. A very nice done corner allowed John Källberg to score against Matthias Brandin in Svartvallstjärnens IF's goal. 0-1 after 41 minutes. Mats Ljusberg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Manfred Fribäck made a huge save. 46 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Manfred Fribäck had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mats Ljusberg. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jan-Erik Carlsson to make the kick off. Matthias Brandin made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Tage Backlund sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan-Erik Carlsson in the 56th minute of play forced Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Manfred Fribäck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Norrlands Athen booed when Svartvallstjärnens IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ture Nordmark didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 66 played minutes Norrlands Athen got a freekick which was hit by Wieslaw Trzenzalski. Manfred Fribäck came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Svartvallstjärnens IF's Mats Ljusberg. But to his dismay, Mats Ljusberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. 70 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Sven-Erik Asmundsson came free, but Manfred Fribäck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sven-Erik Asmundsson took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Manfred Fribäck. Manfred Fribäck dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. With a little luck, Svartvallstjärnens IF's Matthias Brandin got control of the ball when John Carew tried to sneak it across the goal line. Manfred Fribäck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan-Erik Carlsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 81st minute, Björn Andberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tage Backlund got free with Matthias Brandin in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Norrlands Athen's Manfred Fribäck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Erik Asmundsson in the 86th minute of play. Manfred Fribäck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mats Ljusberg in the 89th minute of the match. After having played for 96 minutes, Mats Ljusberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Svartvallstjärnens IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mats Ljusberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Svartvallstjärnens IF were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Norrlands Athen for a fine match.
