When the match had gone on for 7 minutes, Rune Myr put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Diedrik Nys. Gwidon Kapelski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gwidon Kapelski's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adilson das Neves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. 15 minutes into the game, Dino de Souza lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Adilson das Neves. Adilson das Neves made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Gwidon Kapelski sent off a good shot on target. São Petersburgo FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Francisco Lima in the 22nd minute. A nice corner shot did that Kléber Mandrak got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Adilson das Neves quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience was convinced that Gwidon Kapelski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adilson das Neves was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. In the 30th minute, Rune Myr hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rd minute of the match São Petersburgo FC got a corner. Aurora FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Francisco Lima ran over to the corner to take the kick. 36 minutes into the match, Gwidon Kapelski dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Adilson das Neves, 3-1. Adilson das Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gwidon Kapelski in the 39th minute of play. The supporters of Aurora FC booed when São Petersburgo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dino de Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gwidon Kapelski in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adilson das Neves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eugênio Meirelles hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Diedrik Nys showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rune Myr, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gonçalo Mattos was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gwidon Kapelski in the 52nd minute of play forced Aurora FC's goalkeeper Adilson das Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 57th match minute, Aurora FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aníbal Pernambucano to maneuver through the defense. After 63 minutes, Gwidon Kapelski made it 5-1 with a short kick to the right side. Aurora FC's Adilson das Neves tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Aurora FC's Adilson das Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gwidon Kapelski in the 67th minute of play. São Petersburgo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gwidon Kapelski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adilson das Neves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, São Petersburgo FC's Natanael de Senna got a free kick in the 90th minute. São Petersburgo FC's Gwidon Kapelski got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adilson das Neves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gwidon Kapelski's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The São Petersburgo FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Aurora FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
