With an all-out effort, CACHIVA FC's 俞锋烽 threw himself towards the right post 13 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Doyok Pangalila, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 15 minutes into the match, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's goal looked a bit too open when Julio Vargas came free, but 俞锋烽 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Julio Vargas put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of 俞锋烽. Hermengildo Cordeara took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vinicio Clemencin. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hermengildo Cordeara to make the kick off. Leo Lore could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Vinicio Clemencin made a huge save. 62 minutes had been played when some careless play by NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Prospero Odol was slow to take the kick. During this time CACHIVA FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Prospero Odol almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's 俞锋烽 did a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julio Vargas in the 67th minute of play forced NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's goalkeeper 俞锋烽 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
