With 3 minutes on the clock, Cornelio Umaña commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 3 played minutes Sarayacu got a freekick which was hit by Cornelio Umaña. In the 4th minute of the match Art Rhoades sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Andres Viñe skillfully saved the ball. Sarayacu's Andres Viñe couldn't get a good grip on the ball when Art Rhoades shot the distance nicking the right pole and went into goal in the 4th minute, 1-0. Andres Viñe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aycan Tosun in the 9th minute of play. Cristobal Clusella's late challenge caught a San Gwann Birlik's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cristobal Clusella helped the player get up and apologised. In the 14th minute, Cristobal Clusella hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sarayacu's Andres Viñe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Sarayacu from getting a goal against them. Xaver Gobantes hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mustafa Cumhur Kemal got free with Andres Viñe in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Sarayacu booed when San Gwann Birlik was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aycan Tosun didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kaviedes Burgueño kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. After having played for 22 minutes, Kaviedes Burgueño managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sarayacu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kaviedes Burgueño was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 26 minutes into the game, Sarayacu's Morales Colmenares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Samim Esentürk made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Andres Viñe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Art Rhoades in the 35th minute. After a rather tough play, Sarayacu's Peter Riguez got a free kick in the 38th minute. After a rather tough play, Sarayacu's Ramiro Barba got a free kick in the 39th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Sarayacu's goalkeeper Andres Viñe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Art Rhoades. Samim Esentürk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kaviedes Burgueño, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kaviedes Burgueño to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aycan Tosun in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Andres Viñe saved Sarayacu from getting behind. In the 56th minute Mustafa Cumhur Kemal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andres Viñe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mustafa Cumhur Kemal in the 61st minute of play forced Sarayacu's goalkeeper Andres Viñe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andres Viñe came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by San Gwann Birlik's Mustafa Cumhur Kemal. But to his dismay, Mustafa Cumhur Kemal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Sarayacu's Andres Viñe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mustafa Cumhur Kemal in the 65th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Peter Riguez got free with Samim Esentürk in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Sarayacu's Ramiro Barba got a free kick in the 68th minute. Andres Viñe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariusz Kocieniewski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 71 played minutes San Gwann Birlik got a freekick which was hit by Aycan Tosun. In the 75th match minute, Sarayacu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramiro Barba to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mustafa Cumhur Kemal in the 76th minute of play forced Sarayacu's goalkeeper Andres Viñe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Yaşar Özdağ kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Peter Riguez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Samim Esentürk read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. In the 80th minute, Ordonez Llibre hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 84th minute, Sarayacu's Kaviedes Burgueño ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Samim Esentürk. Samim Esentürk yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-2. Mariusz Kocieniewski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andres Viñe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Art Rhoades, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Samim Esentürk made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Morales Colmenares sent off a good shot on target. If Derviş Ensar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peter Riguez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Samim Esentürk made a huge save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The San Gwann Birlik fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sarayacu had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
