Gazanfer Canıtez showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gazanfer Canıtez in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Moritz Trehkopf saved Hertha 1969 from getting behind. Moritz Trehkopf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Lester in the 17th minute of play. With a little luck, Hertha 1969's Moritz Trehkopf got control of the ball when Gazanfer Canıtez tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to FC LIVERPOOL getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Didi Tondu hit a great ball. Egon Fehr took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 24th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Frank Pearce. FC LIVERPOOL's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Moritz Trehkopf showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Howard Layfield in the 27th minute of the match. Moritz Trehkopf showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gong Yi Feng, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 33 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Moritz Trehkopf had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gazanfer Canıtez. 35 minutes into the match, FC LIVERPOOL's goal looked a bit too open when Henri Lippuner came free, but Frank Pearce reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC LIVERPOOL's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Egon Fehr was slow to take the kick. During this time Hertha 1969's players had a chance to rest. 40 minutes into the game, Gazanfer Canıtez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC LIVERPOOL's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hertha 1969 the free kick. Gazanfer Canıtez hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Egon Fehr recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 44th minute Gong Yi Feng shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Moritz Trehkopf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
