The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ding Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guido Escobar in the 6th minute of play. In the 8th minute, Rey Northe left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Dabi Barba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Remigio Valerón tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Remigio Valerón showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Loureiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Carlos Loureiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 37th play minutes Carlos Loureiro shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Remigio Valerón and just under the crossbar into goal. Ding Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julio Alacuart, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ding Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julio Alacuart in the 43rd minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Guido Escobar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Remigio Valerón didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carlos Loureiro went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Ding Kahn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Guido Escobar in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute Carlos Loureiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Remigio Valerón saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 62 minutes into the game, Guido Escobar recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ding Kahn. Guido Escobar showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. Carlos Loureiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Remigio Valerón tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO made a substitution. Teodoro Dorio replaced Guido Escobar. The supporters of Tirant lo Blanch booed when ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubén Flores didn't get a good kick on the ball. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Ildefonso Ucero was substituted for Julio Alacuart. Lobo Diarte kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Ding Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teodoro Dorio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Carlos Loureiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tirant lo Blanch's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Loureiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Remigio Valerón breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 82nd minute, Lobo Diarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dabi Barba in the 89th minute of play forced ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goalkeeper Remigio Valerón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Teodoro Dorio scored 2-3 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ding Kahn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Tirant lo Blanch fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
