The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute Danilo Cearense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrianinho de Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Ronaldinho Maranhense fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grêmio Imortal's protests and gave Ronaldinho Maranhense a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Grêmio Imortal getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Ronaldinho Maranhense hit a great ball. Danilo Cearense struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Adrianinho de Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dr Lecter SC. In the 7th match minute, Grêmio Imortal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dida Vidal to maneuver through the defense. Toninho Peixoto's late challenge caught a Dr Lecter SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Toninho Peixoto helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Grêmio Imortal's Toninho Peixoto got a free kick in the 9th minute. Adrianinho de Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danilo Cearense, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. If Danilo Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Denílson Ramos took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pedro Paulo de Sena. Pedro Paulo de Sena dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Adrianinho de Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danilo Cearense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th match minute, Dr Lecter SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Souza to maneuver through the defense. Grêmio Imortal's Adrianinho de Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danilo Cearense in the 29th minute of play. Ronaldinho Maranhense took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pedro Paulo de Sena. Pedro Paulo de Sena dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The supporters of Dr Lecter SC booed when Grêmio Imortal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Álvaro da Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute Dr Lecter SC were awarded a corner. Luís Souza went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Dr Lecter SC's corner Luís Souza fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Adrianinho de Medeiros quite easily take care of the ball. If Denver Light had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adrianinho de Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danilo Cearense, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Adrianinho de Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danilo Cearense in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Grêmio Imortal's goalkeeper Adrianinho de Medeiros, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ronaldinho Maranhense made a kick off. Adrianinho de Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danilo Cearense in the 52nd minute of play. Knútur Kaaaas hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. After 56 minutes of play, Dr Lecter SC's Danilo Cearense made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Adrianinho de Medeiros was left in no man's land by his defense there! Adrianinho de Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danilo Cearense in the 63rd minute of play. In the 65th match minute, Dr Lecter SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Souza to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danilo Cearense in the 68th minute of play forced Grêmio Imortal's goalkeeper Adrianinho de Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Denver Light fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho de Medeiros having to interfere. When Danilo Cearense came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Dr Lecter SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danilo Cearense couldn't finish the play. Toninho Peixoto hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. 73 minutes into the match, Dr Lecter SC's Danilo Cearense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Adrianinho de Medeiros narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The corner ended in Denver Light almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Grêmio Imortal's Adrianinho de Medeiros did a great save. Dr Lecter SC's Pedro Paulo de Sena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denílson Ramos in the 77th minute of play. Denver Light received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Adrianinho de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 92 minutes into the game, Danilo Cearense cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Adrianinho de Medeiros was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dr Lecter SC's Enio Gerber was substituted for Dieguinho de Amaral. Dr Lecter SC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Grêmio Imortal for a fine match.
