The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kent Rang in the 5th minute of play forced Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Gustaf Holm to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erik Ljusberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Kent Delin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 10 minutes Norrlands Athen's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sven-Oskar Forsberg who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Mountainhammer United's Sven-Oskar Forsberg to fire away a dangerous shot which Gustaf Holm despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Oscar Kock hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. If Erik Ljusberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the match, Kent Rang had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gustaf Holm. Norrlands Athen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kent Rang was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Gustaf Holm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evert Forss, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. After having played for 29 minutes, Urban Ingvall managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Norrlands Athen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Urban Ingvall was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Axel Hägglund's late challenge caught a Mountainhammer United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Axel Hägglund helped the player get up and apologised. Axel Hägglund hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kent Rang in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gustaf Holm prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Jörn Helström's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kent Delin was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Kent Delin was out of position in the 40 minute of play, and Jörn Helström capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jörn Helström really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. 44 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Kent Rang came free, but Gustaf Holm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Norrlands Athen's Gustaf Holm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Oskar Forsberg in the 45th minute of play. Gustaf Holm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kent Rang, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jörn Helström made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Ren Jian Xiao made a precise shot to the right of Kent Delin. Mountainhammer United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. In the 54th minute, Jörn Helström left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Norrlands Athen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. After a rather tough play, Norrlands Athen's Ren Jian Xiao got a free kick in the 58th minute. Evert Forss could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Gustaf Holm made a huge save. The supporters of Mountainhammer United booed when Norrlands Athen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ren Jian Xiao didn't get a good kick on the ball. 66 minutes into the game, Kent Rang was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mountainhammer United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Norrlands Athen the free kick. 70 minutes into the game, Norrlands Athen's Jörn Helström nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kent Delin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-1. Oscar Kock kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Erik Ljusberg took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kent Delin. Kent Delin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-1. In the 79th minute Kent Rang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustaf Holm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Mountainhammer United's Kent Rang, in the 79th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Mountainhammer United. Oscar Kock hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. After having played for 86 minutes, Jörn Helström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Norrlands Athen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jörn Helström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A very good chance. 91 minutes into the match, Harry Arvidsson dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gustaf Holm, 6-2. Mountainhammer United's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
