In the 88th minute, Lino Tempels got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Hertha 1969's Mathieu Tippelt slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Niklas Sauter. That made the score 0-1 after 90 minutes of play. When Vladimir Stengert fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s protests and gave Vladimir Stengert a yellow card for diving instead.
