After some careless play in the Olympiacos FC defense, Filippo Grilli kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anastasios Perakis. The Olympiacos FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anastasios Perakis should have stopped the shot. Beppe Bordon struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Anastasios Perakis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Aquile Azzurre. Anastasios Perakis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Filippo Grilli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Olympiacos FC booed when FC Aquile Azzurre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fulvio Mazzocchetti didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, FC Aquile Azzurre's Paras Palle got control of the ball when Panos Ntountas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alexis Kotsanakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Paras Palle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fulvio Cugini in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anastasios Perakis saved Olympiacos FC from getting behind. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 88 played minutes Olympiacos FC got a freekick which was hit by Thodoris Antoniadis. Anastasios Perakis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Beppe Bordon in the 89th minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC Aquile Azzurre's Dave Nobile got a free kick in the 91st minute.
