Internacional's Silvério Rodrigues shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 3rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Wilson Cassia but with some difficulty. With a little luck, A.A. Francana's Wilson Cassia got control of the ball when Michel Faria tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 9th minute, Lambis Dimitropoulos reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Wilson Cassia. The goal made the score 1-0. Wilson Cassia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michel Faria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Internacional getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Lambis Dimitropoulos hit a great ball. Armando Orlando hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 22nd minute of the game. One of A.A. Francana:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Internacional:s goal. Wilson Cassia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Serafim Fontes went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. 28 minutes into the game, Lambis Dimitropoulos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Wilson Cassia. Lambis Dimitropoulos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lambis Dimitropoulos in the 31st minute of play forced A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Wilson Cassia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 33 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Wilson Cassia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Osvaldinho Batista. Wilson Cassia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lambis Dimitropoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Flávio Brodel fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Internacional's protests and gave Flávio Brodel a yellow card for diving instead. After 40 played minutes Internacional got a freekick which was hit by Flávio Brodel.

The wind increased when Michel Faria made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Michel Faria had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wilson Cassia. A.A. Francana's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Michel Faria was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michel Faria in the 59th minute of play forced A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Wilson Cassia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 62 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goal looked a bit too open when Michel Faria came free, but Wilson Cassia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilson Cassia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Flávio Brodel in the 64th minute of the match. João Adolfo Leite struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Bruno Lanckneus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for A.A. Francana. After a rather tough play, Internacional's Osvaldinho Batista got a free kick in the 67th minute. Válbson Soeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Válbson Soeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Internacional booed when A.A. Francana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Válbson Soeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Internacional's Serafim Fontes tried to score from far away in the 71st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Wilson Cassia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldinho Leal in the 76th minute of play. With a little luck, Internacional's Bruno Lanckneus got control of the ball when Luizão Bocanegra tried to sneak it across the goal line. A.A. Francana were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after Internacional's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Denílson Leite took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Armando Orlando managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 91st minute, Osvaldinho Batista ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Cassia was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. A.A. Francana's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
